In this example, we will be searching the U.S. Declassified Documents Online collection for primary sources related to domestic surveillance programs in the FBI.
- On the Advanced Search page, we will enter our search terms.

- To ensure that we only see results about FBI programs and activities, we will use the Source Library filter to specify we want resources from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

- Other filters can be used to further limit your search to a specific time period, specific classification level, sanitization, completeness, or declassification date.
- After selecting search, we see a list of results. At the top of the search, we can see a summary of our search terms, with an option to revise our search or remove our filters, or change the sort by option.

- On the right side of the page, you can use filters to further limit your search results.
- Below the search summary are the search results. Each result lists the document's name, the publisher, original date, and the set of declassified documents the document is found in.

- Clicking on the title of a document will bring you to the article viewer.
- At the top of the page, you'll see bibliographic information related to the document you are viewing, including the title, date, and publisher.
- On the left side, you'll see a panel where you can search within the document, switch the view type, view the citation, or explore related resources.
