Introduction

This research guide is intended to familiarize researchers with resources within the Norwich University Archives & Special Collections connected to the history of women and coeducation at Norwich University. It is meant as a starting point from which researchers can begin and not as a comprehensive bibliography.

Celebrating 2024 as the 50th anniversary of Norwich’s first women to live on the Northfield campus and the first in the NU Corps of Cadets, this is an ongoing project (in 2023-2024) of Norwich's Alumni Relations Office.

Structure

This guide is divided into several sections:

General resources: Published histories and research files pertaining to Norwich University and Vermont College as well as quick links for exploring Norwich's historical collections online.

University History: General timeline and background information surrounding the topic of Norwich at Norwich.

Personal and Family Collections: Scrapbooks, memoirs, and other personal papers of women connected to Norwich University.

University Records: Collections received from university departments and offices documenting operations and policy decisions connected with women on campus.

Other Archives: Tips for expanding archival research beyond the Norwich Archives.

Finding Aids
