Get Started with International Relations Resources

This guide will help you learn how to search the databases most relevant to your work in the International Relations program.

About Academic Search Premier

Academic Search Premier has the most comprehensive collection of full-text journal articles of any databases available through the library.

Conducting a Search

The screenshot examples below search for articles about liberalism and foreign policy.

  • I used quotes to search for words together as a phrase (i.e. "foreign policy").
  • I put my keywords into different search boxes to make the search simpler.
  • Click the green Search button to start finding journal articles.

Put your keywords into separate search boxes and use quotation marks to search for two words together as a phrase. Click the search button to start searching.

Reviewing Search Results

This search found 1,250 results for journal articles.

  • Check the box next to Scholarly (Peer-Reviewed) Journals from the options on the left to show just scholarly journal articles in your search results.
  • Results are sorted by relevance with the most relevant articles shown at the top of the list of results.
  • To read the article in full, click on either HTML Full Text or PDF Full Text (depending on what is available for that article).
  • If the full text is not available, click on the Check for Full Text button. This will allow you to search in other databases or request it through Interlibrary Loan.

This search found 1,250 articles that are sorted by relevance. Click on the PDF Full Text link to download the article.
