Get Started with International Relations Resources

This guide will help you learn how to search the databases most relevant to your work in the International Relations program.

Conduct a Search on ForeignAffairs.com

The screenshot examples below show a search for articles related to liberalism and foreign policy. Unlike a traditional database, the Foreign Policy search only has a basic search option, and does not utilize boolean operators.

  • I enter my keywords in the search box, and then press search.
  • If I want to narrow my results to a specific region, topic, author, category, or date range, I'll use the drop-downs at the top of the search page.

Reviewing Search Results

This search found 487 articles related to my keywords.

  • Results are automatically sorted by relevance, so the most relevant articles are displayed first in the list of results.
  • To view the article, click on the title.
