Integrate Online Library Resources into NUoodle

Learn how to create links to licensed electronic resources and find open educational content

Using Library Ebooks

The library offers access to two primary ebook providers. The vast majority of our ebooks are available through subscription packages or demand-driven access, so please be aware that they aren't necessarily permanently owned and could be removed. Please contact the library if you have any questions about using specific ebooks in our collection for course use.

eBooks on EBSCOhost

  • Our library subscribes to EBSCO's Academic Collection, a subscription package containing a large selection of ebooks representing a broad range of academic subjects.
  • A great option for integrating book chapters into course readings. Permalinks can be created at the chapter level.
  • Using ebooks in subscription collections as required textbooks is not encouraged, however, as the database is licensed as a collection and publishers may choose to pull titles at any time. It is easier to replace a chapter reading than a textbook an entire course is based around!

Ebook Central

  • ProQuest's Ebook Central combines owned, subscription, and demand-driven access models.
  • In addition to the Academic Complete subscription package, many ebooks on Ebook Central are loaned on a demand-driven basis under license terms aimed at individual users. Please check with the library before adopting titles on Ebook Central as course readings.

The library also subscribes to a small number of subject specific ebook collections, as well as ebook reference collections. Most of these other ebooks are suitable for course use.

Creating Ebook Central links

Ebook Central allows you to copy links at the chapter or title level. These links are ready to share, and no additional proxy prefix is required.

1. Title-level links

Click Share Link to Book, then copy the link in the "Share this book" overlay.

2. Chapter-level links

Navigate to the desired chapter in the online reader, select the link icon from the top toolbar, then copy the link in the "Share this book" overlay.

Select the Permalink icon from the Tools menu in the right sidebar, then copy the resulting link. This link already includes the proxy prefix, so it's ready to share in your classroom.

Digital Textbooks via NU Bookstore

The NU Bookstore offers digital textbooks and other online learning resources from various vendors. Contact Drew Alderdice (aalderdi@norwich.edu / x2207) to learn about options for the texts used in your course.
